The Assemblies of God

The Assemblies of God are a theologically conservative, Protestant Christian denomination within the Pentecostal tradition which means the denomination accepts the present, active reality of the Holy Spirit in daily life, including the gifts of the Spirit such as speaking in tongues, faith healing and prophecy.  It was officially incorporated as an organization in 1914 and in 2005 had approximately 2,830,000 members with 12,298 churches in the United States.  The Assemblies of God is the 10th largest religious group in the country.

The Assemblies of God participation in FACT2000 included a survey of 958 churches randomly chosen from a listing of all A/G congregations in the United States.  A total of 619 questionnaires were returned for a 64.6% response rate.  View the version of the questionnaire used by the Assemblies of God.

If you are interested in obtaining specific information about the results of the Assemblies of God survey, please get in touch with their official contact person Sherri Doty of their research office at sdoty@ag.org.

You can read a report and summary of the Assemblies of God Faith Communities Today findings on this web site.  If you would like to know more about the Assemblies of God, visit the denomination’s official web site at www.ag.org.   In addition, read the press release they have released on the project.  This press release is also available in Spanish in Adobe .pdf format which requires Adobe Acrobat Reader.  This can be downloaded for free by going to the Adobe website.
